Aerial View of Castle

The Marquess of Winchester's Regiment at Kenilworth Castle

Kenilworth is an absolute must!!! If you have never been here, you are really missing out. After all it was good enough for Queen Elizabeth I, as she came here on holiday! You get a really weird feeling standing next to those walls, if only they could talk, what a story they'd tell! Very damaged in the civil war, but still stunning. First build around 1100 by the Normans and added to since it is an excellent place to see how buildings changed as weapons developed, from square towers to round, from tiny defensive arrow slit windows to huge ornate glass ones. A must for children studying "homes", "Tudors" or "Mediaeval realm" topics at school.
