We are fortunate to have such splendid grounds. Open. green space with numerous mature and young trees. The two large adjacent playgrounds allow the children to run freely whilst enjoying the many seats and benches available. There is all year round access to the Open Air Theatre. During the summer months the field, with its Open Air Classroom, Willow Structure and perimeter foliage and trees is a haven for fun. All these facilities have been created over the years by the Staff and PTA. A tree planting programme began in 1989 and is still on going. The introduction of shaded, seated areas is part of a long term programme to further develop the grounds offering creative play and exercise. We have recently added a mini exercise trail to include upper body strength 'monkey bars'. During last summer a group of parents successfully created a feature to contain the grass bank between the playgrounds. The latest addition to the playground has been the construction of a new Hall on the grass area adjacent to the Reception classes creating wall space for ball games. The grounds are not only used by our children for play and work but also by the 'Before and After School Club' , the many after school sports clubs, Sports Days, Family Picnics, Summer Fayres and by our parents who congregate each day before and after school. Classes have adopted areas of the grounds to look after and 'Womblers' regularly patrol to tidy up any litter. |
